First, we have a new 'Visit Malaysia 2020' logo and now, we have a new song.
The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry has just launched the official 'Visit Malaysia 2020' song at Istana Budaya on Friday (6 September).
The song, titled "Visit Truly Asia - Malaysia", was launched by minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi, who said that the song signified another milestone as the Ministry pushes forward with the campaign's marketing and promotional activities.
"The song emphasises universal themes of unity and hope, sharing and inclusivity, and prosperity.
"It also incorporates traditional instruments and music asthetics to reflect the rich, multi-cultural population of Malaysia," he said.
The song was composed by Akedemi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) music faculty dean Ramlam Mohd Imam, and the lyrics were written by Normah Kechut for the Malay version, and James P.S. Boyle for the Enhglish version.
The song was sung by singer Idayu, who, according to Ramlan, was chosen for her vocal range.
After watching the song performed live with the accompaniment of traditional instruments such as the gong, bungkau, bamboo flute, tabe, sitar, erhu and tangyu, as well as an orchestra, we have to say it was a pretty good choice.
