Calling all avid readers!
Award-winning author of 'The Garden of Evening Mists', Tan Twan Eng, is in town and will be throwing a book-signing session.
The Malaysian author, who is now based in Cape Town, South Africa, is here to promote his book and the movie of the same title releasing on 16 January.
Meet and greet
If you love his books or your new year's resolution is to read more books, you'd want to take this opportunity to meet the man behind the compelling stories.
'The Garden of Evening Mists', Tan's second novel, has won numerous prestigious book awards such as the Man Asian Literary Awards and Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction. It was also shortlisted for the Man Bookers Prize and International Dublin Literary Award.
The book is set mostly in post-Japanese Occupation Malaya and a couple of decades after, with some flashbacks to the Occupation itself.
Despite the timeline going back and forth, the book is not difficult to follow, probably due to the meticulous way it was written.
It is a story about memories, the effects of war, forgiveness and more.
If you want to get yourself a signed copy, head to Kinokuniya in KLCC on 5 January 2020 from 2pm onwards.
There will also be a welcome note by creative writing teacher, book lover, and literary event organiser Sharon Bakar, a question and answer session with Tan Twan Eng himself and a short reading session.
You also stand a chance to win one of 10 'The Garden of Evening Mists' goodie bags if you manage to answer some trivia questions correctly!
Mark your calendars and start your year right with a signed book by a local author, guys.
