We remember walking into the cinema absolutely thrilled and excited to watch the first 'Mortal Kombat' film when it came out in Bukit Jambul, Penang.
This was, of course, ages ago but one thing that we won’t forget was the reaction of other fellow movie-goers when the iconic 'Mortal Kombat' theme song came on!
These two guys right in front of us started swinging their jackets and dancing in their seats. To this day, when that theme song comes on, we can’t help but get psyched! For old time’s sake and for those of you who haven’t listened to it, here you go:
Are you pumped? Well, good ‘cause we’ve got some good news! The movie reboot we’ve all wanted is finally happening thanks to James Wan.
Earlier this week, South Australian Premier, Steve Marshall confirmed that shooting will take place in South Australia.
James Wan said to EW, “I’m really happy and excited to be bringing another show back to Australia with 'Mortal Kombat', especially after having such a great experience filming 'Aquaman'.
"Now we get to experience South Australia with its scenic locations and a wealth of artistic talent to work with. It will be perfectly suited for this fantasy-action project.”
Pre-production will begin this month and production is slated to commence later this year.
As with most reboots or remakes, we’re afraid. Very afraid. But having only survived off the franchise’s games and fan-made movies and trailers on YouTube, we still want this to happen.
Oh and we’re really hoping they use the exact same song.
Scream it with us now, “Mortal Kombatttttt!!!”
