If you’ve been on social media for the past few days, you might have seen a film promo photo floating around the internet.
The promo, released by an Indonesian cinema chain, says that you can catch the much-anticipated superhero flick 'Avengers: Endgame' as early as 5am
Of course, many Malaysians found the post amusing, and some even joked that only a movie like 'Endgame' could suddenly make everyone so ‘semangat
’ to wake up at five in the morning.
So, we were curious to know if the screening was real or was it just a clever marketing ploy to hype up the long-anticipated movie.
We decided to investigate and headed to Cinemaxx Theater’s Facebook page
and true enough, it was the real deal
Among one of the reasons why the cinema decides to offer we dare say the earliest screening of the movie in Asia so far is so that fans can go straight to the office after watching the movie.
Also, if you catch the 5am screening, you’ll be at zero risk of hearing any spoilers (since you’re the first to watch it), there’s no traffic at that hour, and it’s also a “once in a lifetime experience”.
On top of that, the cinema chain will also be offering these early worms free coffee and parking too.
What’s even cooler is that the cinema will be screening the movie consecutively for 24 hours, from 5am to 5am, on 24 and 25 April. So, definitely no #FOMO for Indonesians.
In Malaysia, GSC is offering the earliest 'Avengers: Endgame' screening in the country, offering fans a screening as early as 7am
Despite the early timing, a lot of Malaysians were willing to take half day or the day off just so that they could be the first in Malaysia to watch the final ‘Avengers’ movie. Also, the last we checked, most cinemas were almost sold out.
Well, MBO Cinemas hasn’t joined the 'earliest screening' race yet, so who knows they’ll come up with a surprise early screening, say, 3am?
