During its recent quarterly update, the Oxford English Dictionary added more than 1,000 words and phrases to its list. On top of words like "moobs", "YOLO" and "fuhgeddaboutdit", Malaysian students will also be glad to know that they can now incorporate everyday slangs such as "atas", "aiyoh" and "shiok" into their English essays.

Here are some of the Manglish words and phrases that made the cut:
  • Ah Beng (noun)
  • Aiyoh (interjection)
  • Aiyah (interjection)
  • Atas (adjective)
  • Bodoh (adjective and noun)
  • Char kway teow (noun)
  • Kopitiam (noun)
  • Mamak (adjective and noun)
  • Pancit (noun)
  • Rendang (noun)

And before you know it, the global English community will be throwing lah into their conversations, too! #ManglishTakingOverTheWorld
