In a case that sounds like an episode of 'Black Mirror', the Japanese police confirmed that a man who was detained after assaulting a pop star found her through the reflections in her pupils in selfies.
Associate Press reported that the man, Hibiki Sato, was arrested on September 17 for stalking and assaulting the female pop star.
Without getting into specifics, the police confirmed that the man used the reflections and Google Street View to identify the locations she took pictures at, including her home.
We're equally appalled and amazed by the length the creepy guy went to!
The 26-year-old was initially arrested for stalking the star, sneaking up on the victim from behind, groping and knocking her down.
Although the extent of the prevalance of using high resolution pictures for criminal activities is not clear, the public is adviced to be careful of what they post on the internet as people can easily identify your location based on your surroundings.
As if the world is not scary enough! Please be careful of what you post online and who you share it with.
