If you thought our planet Earth was big, wait till you hear what a group of astronomers had to say.
A group of astronomers at France's National Centre for Scientific Research recently discovered a new planet that dwarves Earth a couple of thousand times.
Tech site Mashable
reported that astronomer Anne-Marie Lagrange, who also happens to be lead author of a study in Nature Astronomy, and her group of scientists discovered a massive second planet circling the second brightest star in its constellation called Beta Pictoris!
The planet is reportedly 3,000 times bigger than planet Earth
She also said the planet is situated 2.7 times further from its star than the Earth is from the Sun.
Named b Pictoris c
, the new planet is said to complete its orbit every 1,200 days.
The report said the planet was discovered by analysing 10-years’ worth of high-resolution data obtained with instruments at the La Silla Observatory in northern Chile.
For now, let's just keep this planet under wraps. We don't want humans destroying it.
