How to support local brands like that?
If you're on the market for a new car, you better pull the trigger soon, especially if you've been eyeing a Proton.
That's because starting September, prices of Proton cars will very likely see a hike
reported that prices of vehicles from the local manufacturer could see a rise of between RM1,500 to RM3,000
, depending on the model
Proton Edar's CEO Abdul Rashid Musa told the news agency that the figures are not final as the government has yet to announce the tax mechanism.
The estimation was based on the GST rates implemented by the previous government, Abdul Rashid explained.
When the GST replaced the SST back then, prices of Proton cars saw a RM1,500 to RM3,000 decrease, and when the SST is re-introduced in September, Abdul Rashid said the company expects "a similar increase in the quantum price".
Hence, if you're looking to buy a new Proton, Abdul Rashid said the best time to do it is now.
He further told the news agency that they have sufficient vehicles to go around if you book one now, providing that you're not fussy about the variant and the colour.
You heard the man, boys and girls. If you want a Proton car and you've been waiting for a sign to get it, this is it.
