The hammer came down swift and hard.
After weeks of deliberation, the authorities have decided to shutter Raj's Banana Leaf for good.
The Star Online
reported that the decision was made by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Licensing and Petty Traders Development Department on Monday.
The Department's director, Anwar Mohd Zain, said the committee looked at all angles and decided that "it is best to revoke the licence.”
However, Anwar said that only the license for the Bangsar branch has been revoked, so if you're a big fan of Raj's Banana Leaf, you can still frequent their other outlets around the Klang Valley.
The eatery came under heavy fire recently after a 30-second video purportedly showing employees from the restaurant cleaning dishes in a puddle of murky water went viral online.
The restaurant blamed their new employees
for the big boo boo and assured customers that something like this "has never happened before".
However, Malaysians had none of it as they called for the permanent closure of the restaurant, with Kuala Lumpur mayor Tan Sri Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz being the biggest critic
Now that they have been severely punished, let's hope that other eateries would take note and buck up.
