Are you planning to employ a maid soon? Well, before doing so, you might want to check some of the things that might get you red-flagged from doing so.
The Immigration Department has introduced a new screening system that will filter out those who wish to get a maid. The screening mechanism will be used after Malaysians have made an application via the Online Application for Foreign Domestic Maid (SMO)
It is compulsory for future employers to apply through the system, which was introduced on 1 January 2018.
Those who have criminal records
, filed for bankruptcy
, or fail to show proof that they have a good paymaster record
will be rejected from employing foreign maids immediately.
Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali told The New Straits Times
that those who have been red-flagged will have zero chance of hiring domestic help.
As for those who have cleared the system, they would still need to go through another stage where they will be filtered based on their ability to hire and pay wages on time as well as providing a conducive living environment.
