In the midst of local airlines going to war by offering the best rates to its travellers, comes news that’ll bring us all together regardless of the airline we choose.
According to the latest Flight Price Index 2017 report by Kiwi.com
, Malaysia is dubbed as the country with the cheapest flights in the world
Last year, we placed second after India. This year, India placed third. *snatches crown*
Other countries apart from Malaysia and India making the top 10 are Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Indonesia, Portugal, Thailand, Sweden, and Spain.
Belgium has the most expensive plane tickets on this year's list.
The report was derived by taking into account long and short-haul flights from 80 most frequently visited countries and cities around the world. The findings were calculated by an average ticket cost per 100 km of travel, using high and low season flight costs for over a million journeys.
According to Kiwi.com CEO Oliver Dlouhý, ticket prices fluctuate constantly for various reasons.
“The yearly changes can partly be attributed to fuel prices, socio-political shifts such as Brexit, recent elections and fluctuations in foreign exchange rates
“The UK, for example, is seeing a larger number of Americans visit due to the weakening of the pound, whereas Egypt and Turkey saw a drop in ticket prices due to a decrease in demand due to regional turmoil.”
With this news, we hope that more foreigners will be interested to travel to Malaysia ‘Truly Asia’ which in turn will help boost our tourism and economy.
Malaysians on the other hand should somehow feel blessed that we get to fly out and travel around the globe with the world’s cheapest ticket prices. Malaysia boleh
