Three weeks after Pastor Raymond Koh Keng Joo was abducted by a group of masked men, the police have finally nabbed a suspect connected to the case.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat said in a statement cited by The Star Online
that the suspect, aged 32, was arrested at around 3am in Ampang on Thursday.
According to Comm Abdul Samah, the man allegedly contacted the pastor's family a day before his arrest, asking for a ransom for his release.
He added in the statement that the suspect has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.
The abduction case caught the eye of the nation when a CCTV footage
showing Pastor Raymond being forced into a black SUV along Jalan SS4B/10 in Petaling Jaya made its way online last week.
Over the past week, several vigils were held near the Selangor police headquarters, with the public demanding answers from the police.
