Many homes in Kampung Sri Keramat, Jalan Kebun Baru, Batu 5, and Kapar were submerged in flood waters after high tides broke a few bunds along Sungai Keramat early this morning.

Village residents said that part of the bund made of tree trunks gave way, causing high tides to overflow.
Selangor disaster management unit secretary Kol Ahmad Afandi Mohamad said 26 evacuation centres have been established in the state to aid affected residents.

A total of 79 families have been evacuated so far.

In the Kampung Tok Muda area, river banks have also overflowed. However, the situation remains under control for now as neighbourhoods and roads nearby were not affected.
According to the National Hydrographic Centre
in Port Klang, the tide reached 5.6m at about 5.50am and flood waters surged to 0.6m.
Ahmad Fairuz said other districts in the state like Sepang, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam have seen no flood reports,
The high tides are expected to last until 21 October. Let’s hope that there won’t be more heavy rains that could worsen the situation.
