Have you ever dreamt of an island getaway where there’s only you and nothing but the sea? Well, you no longer have to worry about awkward social interactions or crowded areas because Bird Island is basically the ideal island for you and your tropical dreams.
This miniscule private island is situated 20-minutes away from the coast of Placencia, Belize. You can expect azure blue waters and stunning marine life from this island that’s situated inside a coral reef. The island is owned and operated by Fred Arbona, a Vietnam War veteran, Cornell graduate, and fly-fisherman. He said that he couldn’t imagine anyone who doesn’t have an inherent dream about owning their own island. Well, his dreams certainly came true.
After watching that video, we’re pretty sure you can’t wait to catch the next flight to Belize. You can rent out the whole island for only USD $395 (RM1, 609.29) per night and it can accommodate up to four guests. The minimum stay is three days but we wouldn’t mind staying there for three months or even three years. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to the sound of the waves crashing and birds chirping? No stress, no crowds, just clear waters and you.
If you’re worried of being ‘disconnected’ from the world, don’t worry because the amenities provided will make you feel right at home. It has Wi-Fi (for all your Instagram worthy photos), a TV and CD player with excellent movie selection, electricity, and running water. They’ve also thrown in a barbeque and fire pit so you can have a big cook out and dine by the sea.
In case you get bored of just looking into the wide, open sea, there’s also a kayak and paddle boat you can use. Or, if fishing and snorkelling is your thing, don’t worry because they’ve got you covered with all of the equipment. Sounds thrilling, huh?
Before you get all excited emptying your bank accounts or applying for leave, you might have to be a little bit more patient since this island is fully booked for the next 18 months. Don’t be bummed though, see it as an opportunity to plan ahead and save up money for the trip! We’ve done some research and the return flight ticket from Kuala Lumpur starts from approximately RM6,000. Looks like it’s time to buy a new piggy bank! You can check the available dates on AirBnb
Those who are in dire need of some me-time and solitude, this serene island is waiting for you. You’ll definitely thank us later.
