They say that baking is like science. You need to understand the chemistry behind each ingredient and what should or shouldn't go well together.

But this baker takes her craft to the next level by applying precision that rivals a mathematician.

Lauren Ko is a self-taught baker who is currently residing in Seattle, Washington.

She has a thing for pies.

Rather than creating this typical comfort food that is delicious on the inside but just basic on the outside, she uses her pies as a canvas for some of the prettiest geometric patterns you'll ever see on pastry.

You'll get lost just scrolling through her Instagram feed alone. No wonder she managed to attract more than 160,000 followers within six months!

Here are some of our favourite pie designs by Lauren:

The best-laid tans. ☀️| Cherry pie with a woven chocolate and peanut butter crust. | We’ve been having some quality discussions on here about things that don’t really matter (but which still foster v strong feelings). I’m normally terrible at small talk, but your responses have been so entertaining, I feel compelled to keep the conversation going. Which of course means I can’t think of any more questions to ask, so an awkward lull ensues and we all quietly stare off into the distance and gulp our wine until we can escape to get another glass...👀🍷🆘 . . . . . . . . . . #lokokitchen #cherry #chocolate #peanutbutter #pie #pieart #instabake #instasweet #f52pie #buzzfeast #huffposttaste #marthabakes #imsomartha #thebakefeed #abmlifeissweet #onmytable #bakeandshare #inmykitchen #woven #smalltalk #introvertnightmares #igers_seattle #yeahbutwhatdoesitlooklikebaked

Neon the lookout. 👀| Sundry apples, the dredges of the miso caramel jar, and miscellaneous portions of beet and blueberry dough from the freezer because spring cleaning. | In other v boring housekeeping items (waaaay too much laughing on the last post, must dial back the fun 😉), anyone have a surefire solution for cleaning the inside of the oven door? Not sure what the previous tenants exploded in there, but I’ve been scrubbing for a year. The fewer the chemicals, the better (but so far, baking soda/vinegar/dish soap have not proven effective). 🆘 And while we’re at it, I’m also accepting strategies for getting in summer shape without exercising and giving up salty snacks. Spanx in advance. 🙃

Slicebreakers.🔪| Icebreakers are the worst. Like, knowing that my preferred toothpaste brand is Sensodyne and that my favorite ice cream is Chocolate Malted Krunch (remember those 5-cent scoops from Thrifty?!) and that I’ve pooped my pants twice in my adult life is not going to make anyone more comfortable. But now that I’ve voluntold myself to go first, what’s your fourteenth most embarrassing moment? 🐢| It’s been a minute since I’ve done one of these hand-sliced layer tarts. Spiced honey-soaked apples with dulce de leche creme. Yes, I cut them all individually. No, I don’t have a recipe. Yes, I threw all those pants away. 👖🔥 . . . . . . . . . . #lokokitchen #tart #apple #dulcedeleche #handsliced #icebreaker #poop #thriftyicecream #f52grams #huffposttaste #buzzfeast #foodandwine #foodwinewomen #thebakefeed #feedfeed #abmlifeissweet #tastespotting #imsomartha #bakeandshare #saveurmag #seattle

Unfortunately for us, and all her fans, Lauren doesn't sell her pies nor is she interested to run a pastry shop. She told Munchies that she is just doing it for the 'gram, for now.

Lauren, please change your mind and send some pies over to Malaysia!
