Who knew there was so much art in Malaysia outside of the Galeri Petronas? Though government education and traditional Asian mindsets have generally discouraged the pursuit of art in Malaysia, we think a little more culture will help our nation as a whole. Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery

Yeah, as in our national bank that keeps all our moolah and stuff. It has four floors and holds six galleries, i.e., Art Gallery, Numismatics Gallery, Islamic Finance Gallery, Bank Negara Malaysia Gallery, Economics Gallery, and Children’s Gallery.

The literal home to artists is a private arts centre that hosts resident artist on their grounds and opens its gallery to the public on weekends during art exhibitions. Call ahead to find out what’s on display. The space is used as a breeding ground for the arts and the dance workshops are legit.

Prototype aims to push the local architecture and arts and crafts scene to another level and believes in mixing old world design values with the new. They meld the old with the new by making products with 3D Printing and laser cutting technology complemented by the good ol’ maker’s hands to create unique items that people will love. They boast weird collectibles, 3D printed and laser cut items, handmade wearables, poetry, paintings, and more.

What started as a personal gallery has now ballooned into a gallery that hosts a wide variety of exhibits from young artist in the region. They specialise in contemporary works from up and coming artists and the space is also available for events related to art and culture.

Minut Init Art Social
The art social is most mainstream indie art gallery in Damansara that hosts art events, live music, art classes, and many more. Don’t let the neon lights and modernist art put you off though, dig deeper and you’ll find a friendly community of artist that encourages inclusion.

As the name suggests, it’s a gallery with affordable art which ranges from RM300 and above. They provide modern and contemporary art on a budget without skimping on quality. Artworks are in various sizes and there’s a possibility to commission artworks by size and if you’d like it framed, give them a call, they might be able to arrange something based on your budget. There’s even a buying guide to help you choose the right painting for the correct space.
