iPhone was first released in 2007 which would later forever change the communication landscape in history. It has transcended throughout the years and maintained its brand presence successfully and became a brand that almost everyone can identify with. The smartphone has also helped create multiple job opportunities and numerous success stories through the creation of apps catered especially for the iPhone. Yesterday, Apple made a monumental announcement following the sale of its billionth iPhone.

According to their CEO, Tim Cook, “iPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history.” He later added that iPhone has become more than a constant companion and it is “truly an essential part of our daily life and enables much of what we do throughout the day.”

Ironically, the announcement came just a day after Apple reported the decline in their iPhone sales over the past quarter, which happens to be the worst quarter they have experienced in over a decade. Apple have sold over 61.2 million units of iPhone during the first quarter in 2015 but they only managed to sell 10 million less during the first quarter of this year.

Apple may be facing more challenging in the coming months ahead and it’s unlikely that they will see a big growth in their sales due to the saturated smartphone market and increasing competitors. The tech company has tried to diversify their products over the years by introducing new products such as the Apple Watch, but it seems that no other inventions could beat the success of their existing products.

So, the big question now is – what’s next for Apple?

Apple iCar

Some reports have been circulating since 2015 that Apple was working on an electric car project. It was said that it could be the next contender for Tesla’s electric, self-driving cars. The automotive project codenamed ‘Titan’ was first reported in a Wall Street Journal article citing that “several hundred Apple employees were working on the project.” Although Apple have never confirmed nor denied these claims, a few days ago it was reported that Apple has appointed Bob Mansfield to oversee the project. The iCar is rumoured to be released in 2021. Will there ever be an iCar? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, you can read the whole theory here

Among the new features are a new home button with motion sensors which means that it’ll not move when pressed, a new, smaller headphone jack, and last but not least, a feature that everyone is dying for – waterproof body. Let’s all pray for these rumours to come true during their announcement which is scheduled to be this September.
