Cops And MCMC Arrest Malaysian Man For Spreading Fake Coronavirus News

They warned us a few days ago about spreading fake news.

It's clear that the police and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) are not playing around when it comes to sharing information on the novel coronavirus.

In a statement, the MCMC said that a 34-year-old man had been detained after posting fake coronavirus related news on Facebook.

The man was arrested on Tuesday evening in Bangi and his phone and sim card (which were suspected to have used to upload the post) were also seized.

"This stern action is part of the MCMC and the PDRM's efforts to control the spread of fake news about the novel coronavirus outbreak by irresponsible individuals that could undermine national stability and public order," said MCMC in the statement.

The man is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Under this section, he can be fined up to RM50,000 or jailed for not more than a year or both!

So guys, always share from reliable sources.
