Live-action film remakes have been a staple for Disney over the years with some gaining monumental success while others ending up being borderline creepy.
And the next film they’ve planned on their slate is one that’ll bring you back to your earliest childhood trauma – ‘Bambi’.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has hired Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer to write the screenplay for the live-action adaptation of the prince of the forest.
The live-adaptation of the 1942 film will tell the tale of a young fawn named Bambi in a coming-of-age story which takes him on an adventure along with his two best friends – a rabbit named Thumper and a skunk named Flower in the forest where he lives.
Interestingly, ‘Bambi’ will reportedly get the same treatment as ‘The Lion King’ and ‘The Jungle Book’ so fans can expect super-realistic animals and great attention to detail.
No word yet on who will star in the movie or when will it premiere but while waiting for those details, we can all anticipate other Disney live-action films such as ‘Cruella’ starring Emma Stone and ‘The Little Mermaid’ starring Halle Bailey which are currently in production.
So Disney kids, are you ready for the heartbreak? Are you ready for the emotional rollercoaster that’ll definitely reduce you to tears? Can you handle the ending that’ll scar you (once again) for life?
Let’s all wait and see.
