The ‘Great British Bake Off’, a baking reality TV show that’s taking Britain by storm since it first debuted in 2010.
In a recent episode, contestants were tasked to bake something Malaysian are very familiar with – the iconic Sarawak layer cake.
In line with the episode’s theme of ‘festive week’, bakers were challenged to woo the judges with their rendition of the layer cake in the Showstopper segment.
The segment requires competitors to showcase their creativity with a professional looking cake with outstanding flavours to demonstrate their skills and talent.
According to judge Paul Hollywood, the Sarawak layer cake is “one of the most difficult creations seen on the show”.
Contestants were given four hours and 15 minutes to complete their Sarawakian creations.
20-year-old contestant Henry Bird ultimately won the challenge with his 'Elegant Present Box' Sarawak layer cake.
