You Can Now Catch Malaysia's Own Mowgli In Local Telefilm 'Budok Kuba'
By now we all would have heard of the story of ‘buffalo boy' Mohd Syukur Khamis.

The 14-year-old, also known as the 'Malaysian Mowgli’, became famous after his photos with a herd of buffaloes that his father rears went viral on social media.

The buzz on Mohd Syukur has grown since Terengganu-born Kuala Lumpur-based photographer Mohd Nazri Sulaiman’s ‘Sharing Emotion’ work clinched the grand prize (Street/People category) at the Asian Geographic: Images of Asia (IOA) 2018 awards last November.

So photogenic.
Among the many who have photographed Mohd Syukur with his animals is Terengganu-based photographer Dallah Deen (Abdullah Deen Mohd Zain), who has developed a body of work revolving around “Syukur Khamis – Kampung Boy” since late 2014.

All this attention on him made him so famous that the buffalo whisperer is now set to become an actor!

Yes, he will be starring in a telefilm called ‘Budok Kuba’, which will be screened exclusively on Astro Citra.

The telefilm by Jo Sidek and Hashim Rejab is inspired by Mohd Syukur’s photos, according to Astro Awani.

The telefilm centres around a boy named Amar (Mohd Syukur). It narrates the story of how Amar deals with his parents' divorce after his father marries another woman.

Devastated, Amar’s mother then takes him a village in Terengganu to stay with his grandfather.

At first, Amar finds it difficult to get used to a rural lifestyle without his father. However, he finds solitude in the herd of buffalos reared by his grandfather.

‘Budok Kuba’will be premiering on Astro Citra (131) and Citra HD (126) on 20 July, so tune in to see how the story ends.
