Speedy recovery, Dave Mustaine.
Heavy metal band Megadeth’s lead guitarist and singer Dave Mustaine has been diagnosed with throat cancer.
The 57-year-old recently announced his diagnosis on Megadeth’s official Facebook page.
"It's clearly something to be respected and faced head on - but I've faced obstacles before," he said.
"I'm working closely with my doctors, and we've mapped out a treatment plan which they feel has a 90% success rate. Treatment has already begun,” he wrote.
The unexpected illness forced the group to cancel most of their upcoming tour dates in October.
Upon learning about his condition, Mustaine’s fans and fellow performing artists showed their full support by sending messages.
"Please join me in sending all of our most powerful positive mind bullets to my brother Dave. You got this my friend, you can beat it - like you beat me in arm-wrestling! Kick its ass and get healthy!,” said Anthrax's Scott Ian.
"Praying for my friend Dave Mustaine for a full and speedy recovery!,” said his bandmate David Ellefson.
Mustaine used to be a member of rock band Metallica, before he was dropped after drug abuse allegations surfaced.
Mustaine and bass player Dave Ellefson are two remaining members of the original Megadeth group after drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick left the group in 2014.
Get well soon, Mustaine. You got this!
