There may be too many reality competitions these days, but now and then, unexpected talent surfaces and their performances are always a gem to watch. Grace VanderWaal's performance yesterday on America's Got Talent 2 is definitely one of them.
When Simon Cowell, one of the judges of America's Got Talent 2 (and also 'infamous' for his harsh and direct comments) asked the 12-year-old whether her friends were supporting her, she answered, "Most of my friends don't know I sing." They didn't know she was going to go on stage too.
VanderWaal sang a song she had penned herself. The look of surprise on the judges' faces and the audiences were priceless. Naturally, she got the golden buzzer and progressed to the advanced stage of the competition.
Cowell compared her to Taylor Swift, but we think she sounds more like Sia and Florence Welch. Definitely not a bad thing when you're that young.
