It seems that Camila Cabello isn’t the only who wants to hop on the solo career train.
Her former band members – Dinah Jane, Lauren, Normani, and Ally - have made an announcement on Monday that after “six years going hard, non-stop” they have decided to take an indefinite hiatus from Fifth Harmony to focus on their solo endeavours in order to stay “authentic” to themselves.
The band, who rose to fame via reality show 'X Factor',
broke the news via Twitter and also confirmed that scheduled shows at the end of the year will still go on as planned despite the hiatus.
Apparently, all of the girls have had a head start on their solo careers prior to the hiatus announcement.
Dinah Jane released "Boom Boom"
back in 2017 with RedOne, French Montana, and Daddy Yankee; Lauren released a track with Steve Aoki titled "All Night"
in January this year; Ally also released "Perfect"
featuring Topic on the same month, and Normani recently released "Love Lies"
with Khalid in February.
Now, everyone has one burning question on their minds following this news – will they be able to replicate Camila Cabello’s success as a solo artist?
This past decade, we can see a recurring pattern where not all former band members who wish to pursue solo careers will succeed. Some make it big, some just disappear from the face of the Earth.
Whatever it is, we wish all the best for the girls in their future endeavours.
