Not a K-pop child but the name Big Bang is not lost on someone like me, surrounded by family and friends who are (still) gripped by a love frenzy of Korean pop culture. Good news then for Malaysian K-pop fans with the release of Big Bang Made, a movie revolving around this beloved South Korean boy group captured during their blockbuster Made tour.

This music documentary chronicles Big Bang members in their journey of the 32-city Big Bang Made World Tour that ran from April 2015 to March 2016 across 15 countries over 66 shows. 1.5 million fans came out in support of their idols in the 340-day tour, the largest of any Korean act.

Malaysia was one of the pit-stops of the Big Bang Made tour in July 2015 where local fans feasted on not one but a bumper of two concerts. A lavish set dazzled the audience together with truly spectacular choreography and costumes in true Big Bang tradition. It was just as how The New York Times described this K-pop phenomenon as the “true wild heart of K-pop” in reference to the group’s stunning outfits and performance.

The five members of Big Bang really need no introduction, but for the few and far-in-between uninitiated of all things K-pop, they are G-Dragon (lead vocals), T.O.P. (rap), and Taeyang, Seungri and Daesung (vocals). Big Bang Made pays homage to the group’s 10th anniversary since their August 19, 2006 debut and thrust into the limelight. The rest as they say is history.

What’s Next For Big Bang’s 10th Anniversary?

After the release of Big Bang Made, there are plans for a concert, 0.TO.10, slated on August 20 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. After that, an exhibition showcasing the history of Big Bang, A TO Z, will be staged from August 5 to October 30 in Seoul.

Big Bang continue their touring kicking off with a concert in Osaka’s Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Japan from July 29 to July 31, 2016, followed by shows in Macau, Taiwan and the rest of Japan up until December 2016.

As a teaser reported on Soompi.com, Big Bang member Taeyang said (jokingly), “While in the waiting room we made a box-office promise. We originally had planned to put on a guerrilla concert for our 10-year anniversary, but it did not happen. If we reach over 100,000 in ticket sales we will hold a guerrilla concert at a location no one will know about. If we reach over 50,000 in sales we will reveal unreleased movie footage, which include Seungri and T.O.P’s shower scenes. Of the two, we’ll reveal Seungri’s shower scene. He will upload it himself.”

Big Bang 10: "Big Bang shines the most when they are just being themselves. The movie is a collection of such moments. Without any artificial setting, the camera follows Big Bang members and records them in their most natural state. As a result, viewers can see Big Bang members not only as artist but also just as guys next door."

The Jakarta Post: “It is a movie that will delight fans, showing the five singers off guard in their natural state -- onstage, backstage and offstage -- as playful 20-somethings, perfectionist performers and sometimes even irritable celebrities. It is also something of a gift boding a temporary farewell, as many of the members, starting with T.O.P, are set to join the mandatory military service next year.
