Look at His Majesty's smirk... we'd be smiling like that too if we got a Civic Type-R for our birthday

Growing up as a child, did you ever wish you’d wake up on your birthday morning and find your dream car parked in the porch? Wasn’t it the coolest feeling when it happened? Well, we wouldn’t know either.

However, His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda The Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah now knows that feeling very well after Honda Malaysia gifted His Majesty a brand-new Honda Civic Type-R in conjunction with the official birthday of the Agong at Istana Negara.

Not forgetting Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Binti Almarhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj as well who was gifted a Civic 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged Premium.

The Type-R nameplate is a legendary one and no other Honda model is worthier of being an official escort vehicle for His Majesty. When it was launched in 2017, the Civic Type-R was the fastest front-wheel drive vehicle to lap the Nurburgring; though it has since relinquished that title.

Making use of forced induction, the 2.0-litre VTEC turbo-four engine makes 310hp and 400Nm of torque that drives the front wheels via a proper six-speed manual with three pedals as god intended all hot hatches to be.

Every Type-R is built with its own special serial number plate positioned strategically on the center console as a constant reminder of the Type R’s exclusivity.

Although the Civic Type-R is to be an escort vehicle for His Majesty’s motorcade, we won’t be surprised if His Majesty jumps into the driver’s seat every once in a while.
